NCMA Professionally Accredited Programs at The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

Through our Northern Alberta and Northwest Territories Chapter, CIM | Chartered Managers Canada has partnered with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton to ensure that they offer programs that align with our Chartered Management Program. By completing any of these programs at NAIT, you will become one step closer to becoming eligible for our Certified in Management (C.I.M.) or Chartered Manager (C.Mgr.) professional designations. The Northern Alberta Institute of technology offers multiple program options, giving you flexibility in choosing a program that will help you develop your management skills while still being eligible for a designation.

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology was founded in 1959 and began running classes in 1962. Since its founding, the university has graduated thousands of students in business, manufacturing, construction, skilled trades, academics and much more. Bachelor of Business Administration - Management Concentration

This four-year bachelor’s degree program from the JR Shaw School of Business at NAIT will prepare students for leadership roles that will enable them to contribute to employer growth by advising on key business practices such as revenue streams, resourcing and strategic planning. The program will challenge students through simulated business cases based on real-world case studies, as well as analytical and inductive thinking to make business decisions to drive organizational success. Much of the program is focused on case studies which can be applied towards real-world experience opportunities through co-op placements. Courses in this program can be completed online during the daytime (Monday to Friday before 5pm), or online during evenings and weekends (Monday to Friday after 5pm, or Saturdays and Sundays). Some courses have an in-person component which is delivered at NAIT’s main campus in Edmonton.

Diploma in Business Administration

The two-year Business Administration Diploma program prepares students with the foundational knowledge they need to become an effective business leader and earn their Certified in Management (C.I.M.) designation. Through this program, students will gain an understanding of modern business dynamics and organizational culture, as well as knowledge on key business areas such as accounting, finance and marketing in year-one that will enable them to make key business decisions in a competitive environment. There are currently two concentrations that are professionally accredited by the NCMA.

Management Concentration

The management concentration includes courses that build on foundation laid by the first year courses, and are focused on immersing students in a combination of classroom teaching, case studies, simulation and industry networking. Topics learned in year two of this program include:
