CIM News from the Branch

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The National CIM Annual Conference this past June was terrific! The programs, speakers, venues, entertainment, accommodations and hospitality were first-rate. I would like to sincerely thank the Hamilton Chapter organizing committee for their excellent efforts. Great job!

The Toronto Chapter was fortunate to receive the following awards at the CIM National AGM:

  • Branch Public Relations Award: Branch Newsletter
  • Sapphire Volunteer Service Award: Phil Russo
  • Diamond Volunteer Service Award: David Tran
  • Gold Volunteer Service Award: Wesley Spence
  • Bronze Volunteer Service Award: Mike Aoki

Peter Boos also received an award from CIM for his terrific term as OER President, and Toronto Branch member Paul Markle was re-elected as CIM National President. Congratulations to all!

I recently found out that I have been awarded the Fellowship Designation (FCGA) from CGA Canada in recognition of the contributions I have made not only to the CGA association but to the community at large. I feel deeply honoured and humbled to receive this distinction.

The FCGA presentation will take place on Friday, September 24th at the CGA Member Recognition and Awards Dinner at 7:00 pm at the White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa at Niagara-on-the-Lake. For ticket information, please contact 1-800-668-1454 ext. 8246.

Our Summer Social on July 27th at Toronto's Bier Markt was an outstanding networking experience. A fun time was had by all. I would like to sincerely thank Mike Aoki and Beth McKenzie for organizing this wonderful event. Please see report by Mike Aoki in this newsletter for more information.

Our next event will be our Joint Boat Cruise on September 30th. This is always an enjoyable event, as our past two boat cruises have provided many fond memories. Please see flyer of the boat cruise in this newsletter. Hope to see you there.
